I love me some Bordertown!!

Ok so I made an executive decision and got the heck out of Dodge. Call it an extended mental health day if you'd like but City Boy had a TDY in Shreveport LA so nothing was holding me back from going Left. As you all can see from ROOTS I needed a break. St. Louis is beautiful but it's not friendly. That became clear after it snowed for 3 weeks, followed by 2 days of sunshine, followed up by 3 days of downpouring rain that rivaled the days of Noah. I'd had it and the kids had had it!! SO we're in Mexico, the newer one that is. The land of the Dry and the home of the Sane. It's so nice to be back. It's spring break so the siblings are home. I miss everyone one back home but I do not miss the cold wetness that I call Right!!

City Boy Sold His Soul!

Earlier I made a reference to City boys contract with Satan. This is what I refer to as the military. Well maybe not Satan himself. Only the Marines, Navy and Army work directly with Satan, we work more with a Jr. Satan. Like his understudy or something.
City Boy can't tell me what he does at work. I do know that his job doesn't end when he leaves the office. I should apologize to the crew when they call at 2 a.m. I don't think I sound very nice.
He comes home so sweet but rode hard and put away wet.
We have it easier than the other branches of the military, Chris is always able to watch the kids when I have an appointment and hasn't deployed yet. So we're lucky.

Roots

My roots have been showing lately. NO, not my haircolor. I notice the "ya'lls" and the "give me a hollar" are coming back in force. I even wave at every car that passes me on the road. (You know the index finger wave. P.s. that will get you a dirty look here in Il.) Listening to the radio I had a realization, every where my parents have lived has been quite litterally "where the blacktop ends." They lived in Salem about a quarter mile from the dirt roads and now actually live on a dirt road. Not litterally "on the road." You know what I mean.
I miss going outside and being creeped out by how quiet is is. Sitting in the dark almost watching the stars move across the sky. Most of all I miss the desert. Running bare hotfooted to the next spot of shade at 5pm and by 7pm your feet are freezing walking across the same path. The smell mesquite gives off during a rain storm, the whole world holding it breath for a split second as the sliver of sun comes over the horizon, the sun reflecting off the land when it clears.
Once on the phone with Daddy we talked about the mountains. I miss them. That's Heaven. Standing so high the air stings as you breathe, knowing your the only person for miles. Just to sit long enough that you can feel the forest move around you just like the stars. This country mouse loves her city house but she can sure use a slice of Heaven.

Happy Birthday City Boy

City Boy is another year older and he just gets sweeter ands sweeter. He works so hard for us but always has time when he gets home. No matter how tired he is, he will always smile and pay attention to us. He's even patient when he asks what I did all day and I say nothing. I ask if we can go out to eat and his response is always "What baby wants, Baby gets!' I love it.
I hope you enjoyed your special day. We love you!!!

Snapshot!

Right now Donovan is trying to put his fingers in the paper shredder, Saidi is eating and watching Clifford, City Boy is off making good on his contract with Satan, and I avoiding the post week-end laundry, dishes and my unmade bed.
